Mission
Social behavior takes place in a communicative
context. CSCL’s goal is to analyze the biological, cognitive,
affective and socio-cultural bases of communication and their role
in the regulation of social behavior. Our approach emphasizes the
socially situated nature of cognition, namely cognition is not
identified with detached thoughts but with the control of
adaptively successful interaction with others and with the world.
CSCL investigates diverse phenomena with a broad vision of science
that cuts across disciplinary boundaries. For this reason, our work
is informed and shaped by recent insights in cognitive science,
communication, language and neuroscience.
