STEPHANIE BLOM
Research
Assistant
After obtaining
my Bachelor degree in Social Psychology I started the research
master Social and Health Psychology at Utrecht University. During
one of the courses I got in contact with Gün Semin as he gave a
class on embodied cognition. Finally a topic that I was passionate
about and that truly had my interest! From that point on I have
been involved in the studies that we conduct at Utrecht University
and have also had the chance of doing some studies myself
throughout an internship. After finishing my masters, I hope to
continue working in this research group as a PHD.

Interests:
One of
my main interests is the embodiment of emotions: exactly how are
emotions communicated, understood and felt? And what role does the
body –e.g. facial muscular activity- play in this? Another topic of
interest concerns the role of language in psychological
processes. A specific subject that I am curious about is the role
that language and gesture can have in how people place their
memories in time.
